Mateus Asato – Dancing Queen
ABBA tunes should be more popular among guitar players, right? Mateus Asato’s treatment of the song “Dancing Queen” is a beautiful example of how to arrange a melody on guitar. The choice of register (with a little help from his capo) allows the melody to shine and creates an airy tonal texture.
Chances are that you’re already familiar with voicings and fills that are being used. However, since those lofty heights on the fretboard and the use of a capo might ask for some adjustments regarding playing technique, it might be a good idea to first familiarize yourself with rhythms and pitches, one octave below – without capo 😉
